In the Blogosphere (blog world) they say consistency is key. If you can only focus on one thing (outside of delivering good content), it should be consistency. So here I am, being consistent. I wasn’t able to take time away to blog this past week because, well, LIFE. So I thought I would quickly throw this together for you guys to let you know that sometimes life gets in the way, and that’s ok.
My two-year-old, Nolan, had an ear infection this past week and let me tell you, he was hurting. The Friday before last, we woke up and carried out our normal morning routine. Nolan was not having one ounce of it, though. He didn’t want to eat, he didn’t want me to hold him, he didn’t want to wake up. There was no pleasing him. Now, he is not a morning person, but he is NEVER this angry. After about an hour of him fussing non-stop, I called the doctor to make an appointment. I told the lady I suspected an earache but, honestly, I wasn’t sure what the heck was going on. I just knew something wasn’t right. He continued with the fussiness all day, until about the time we left for the doctor. When we got in to see the doctor, he advised me that
mothers are always right, sure enough, double ear infection. We got a script for an antibiotic and immediately gave him some Tylenol. The day got a little better with the help of Tylenol and antibiotics. However, his little ear was bothering him, off and on, for a good week after that. We’re on the up and up now.
“every day is a gift”
Friday, Marcus turned 34 and we love a good reason to celebrate in our house. We started the celebrations with my family on Wednesday night at a nice steak dinner. (Steak is the one thing my entire family (kids included) likes.) We celebrated with Marc’s Mom and Stepdad on Thursday night with another yummy (homecooked) steak dinner. Then, Friday, Marc’s dad and stepmom came to town and we celebrated with them at our favorite Mexican food restaurant. Saturday (St. Patty’s Day) we continued the celebration. We woke up bright and early and met up with our friends for a beautiful day on the Golf Course, followed by dinner and drinks. The night ended with us hanging at the house with his dad, chatting and catching up. Sunday we did breakfast with them before they got back on the road to head home. Shortly after they left, my parents came over to hang out with the kiddos and us for the afternoon. All in all, I’d say it was a pretty stellar birthday.
“never get so busy making a living, that you forget to make a life…”
As I mentioned above, we had family come visit this weekend. We value our time with our family so very much. We are so grateful to have our families and we will never take our time with them for granted. With that being said, while they are here we try our best to stay off our phones, computers, tv’s, etc. We have real life face to face conversations with them and enjoy each others company. It’s nice to disconnect every now and then.
It was also SPRING BREAK last week. If you have kids, you know that means a week of
chaos fun and entertainment. If you don’t have kids then you probably just enjoy driving to work without school traffic. For me, it means Dane was out of school for the week which also means I was entertaining and playing with him. We painted and decorated Easter eggs, enjoyed lots of time in the sun playing with bubbles, did some cute little Easter crafts, and just did a lot of hanging in our comfy clothes at the house. The Texas weather cooperated and it was a pretty nice and low key Spring Break.
“happiness is homemade <3”
The last thing is Life. Life happened this week and I just didn’t get to sit down for a few to work on my blog. My husband worked really late (like 2 AM late) one-night last week. He had a friend he hadn’t seen since HS (roughly 15 years ago), fly into town to visit. I was also juggling the normal housework. I also have a little side hustle making shirts and decals with my Silhouette Cameo, (affiliate link) so I had a couple of shirts to make. It got a little busy, but we enjoyed it (except the ear infection). This week we should be back to our normal routine and I’ve got some good content planned. I hope you enjoyed your Spring Break with your families and kiddos. Don’t forget, never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life. Life is short and it goes by quickly. <3
I would love to hear about your spring break and if you have ever had a week or moment like this. Chime in below in the comments!
