Things all Mom’s of Boys Should Know

When I found out I was pregnant with my oldest son, I remember thinking it was certainly a girl.  Someone I could play Barbies with and have tea parties with. Braid and curl her hair and put her in frilly dresses. I basically pictured myself reliving my childhood but as a 20 something-year-old woman.

When my Doctor told me I was having a boy (and there was no doubt about it), I didn’t really know what to think. How would I do playing TMNT and Superheros? Would all the fart and booger talks gross me out or would they even include me? Fast forward to my gender ultrasound of my second child and I remember thinking, “PLEASE GOD, let this be a boy. Boys are what I know and what I’m comfortable with at this point!”. And then he said “Another BOY!”. I was so excited to now have 2 boys to love. I am a proud BoyMom! Read more

What if Moms got Sick Days?

mom sick day

Mom… sick? No, you must be mistaken. Think back to your childhood when you got sick and you were told to “stay in bed” and “get some rest”. Doesn’t that sound glorious now? I remember thinking what a boring nightmare this is to stay in bed and not play with my friends. Meanwhile, my mom is waiting on me hand and foot with yummy warm soup and ginger ale. Read more

What Not to Say to the Working Mom from a SAHM Standpoint

Last week I did a post called “5 things you should never say to a SAHM”. As a Stay-at-home-mom that was a pretty easy post for me to write. One that didn’t require too much thought because I hear those unsolicited opinions pretty often. After that post, I started thinking back 4 years ago to when I was a working mom and the things people said to me then. Having experienced motherhood from both sides, I understand the challenges each set of circumstances presents. Neither situation is easy, and insensitive comments can make things even harder. So without further ado… Read more

5 things you should never say to a Stay-at-home-Mom

Link to a parenting blog - Momatello

When people hear the title Stay At Home Mom (dad/parent/grandparent, etc..I just say Mom because that’s what I answer to), some of them immediately think we have it super easy.  I mean, after all, we don’t have a boss we answer to just a 2 and 5-year-old and we don’t have to wake up super early for a job we just never sleep. What more could you ask for? I can understand why you might think that, if you have never been a stay at home mom, don’t have kids and/or have never spent significant time with children. However, for the rest of the people out there, my response is, “You’ve got to be kiddin’ me, right?”. In my 4 years of being a stay-at-home-mom, I have heard countless remarks and comments regarding my job. These are the ones that stand out to me the most. Read more

You know you’re living the Mom Life when….

Have you ever had a moment or four of realization in parenting? You know… that moment where you drive to your mini vacay of the week the grocery store ALL ALONE and listen to the Sesame Street Theme song the whole way there and didn’t even realize it until you parked. Well, I’ve had TONS of those moments and I’ll bet you can relate to a lot of them as well! Read more

Me Time & Mom Time…at the Same Time? It’s Possible!

Have time to yourself while your kids play

When you become a parent, you dedicate your entire life to caring for another life. Quickly, you learn the importance of putting others needs before your own. You happily give them all of your time, your space, your love, and sometimes your food (when they get a bit older), amongst many other things. You knew going into this that you would be dedicating your whole self to this little life you are bringing into the world. While that is an admirable attitude, let’s face it, we all need some “me time”. Without it, we ultimately just end up running ourselves into the ground. Read more
